05/05/09
The meeting was well attended with 22 members present, 3 guests and apologies
from a further 12 members.
There has been a significant increase in active members in the past 12
months and it is hoped that this will continue.
In her Financial report, Melanie Johnstone reported that though there
appeared to be a significant loss, this was due to the payment of 2 years
fees to England Athletics and to the Long Distance Walkers Association
(LDWA). There was a significant increase in club kit purchases, but this
was offset by increased sales of kit.
There was a change in rules proposed by John Ivers and seconded by Dave
Ross. The aim of this change was to bring the Collingwood Membership year
in line with the annual year of England Athletics as there were difficulties
encountered as currently the club year runs from 1st Sepember to 31st
August. The proposed change is to make the financial year of the club
run from 1st March to 28th (or 29th) February annually. The England Athletics
year runs from 1st April to 31st March annually.
A brief explanation was given of this change and members present voted
unanimously to accept the update of the club rules.
The following committee was approved by those present:
John Ivers – Chair & Secretary
Melanie Johnstone – Treasurer
John Allen – Club President & Club Rep on the Surrey County
Management Committee
Ruth Cottam – Member without Portfolio
Nicola Dicks – Club Kit Sales
Andy Flett – Cross Country Secretary
Alison Fox – Press Officer - newly elected
Martin Lloyd – Club Website Manager
Allan Rumbles – Membership Secretary
Andrew Stalley – Club Handicap and Championship
John Ivers asked John Allen to present awards and Andrew Stalley gave
a brief introduction to the categories.
John Ivers introduced the Keira Ivers & James Ivers Memorial Handicap
Cups in memory of his children who died as infants.
John Ivers also introduced Tony from Richard Mark to present the Colin
Wilkie Memorial age-graded shield. Tony said a few words before the presentation
of the award.
The following are the trophy winners for 2009:
Club Championship – Male – Keith Dunning
Club Championship Runner-Up – Male – Martin Lloyd
Club Championship – Female – Nicola Dicks
Club Championship Runner-Up – Female – Kate Knight
Colin Wilkie Memorial Shield (Age-Graded Handicap) – Male –
Martin Lloyd

Fitzy Trophy (most improved runners) – Andrew Stalley & Nicola
Dicks
James Ivers Memorial Trophy (Male Handicap) – Martin Lloyd
Keira Ivers Memorial Handicap (Female Handicap) – Kate Knight
Terry Knight Cup – Martin Lloyd – for continued work and development
of the club website.
We were delighted to announce that there remains a full committee, with
Alison Fox joining as Press Officer. John Ivers is stepping down from
the role after 12+ years.
Dave Ross nominated himself as the Club Social Secretary, but does not
wish to be on the Committee to fill the position.
Allan Rumbles asked for ideas relating to further membership drives and
promotion of the club locally.
Dave Ross put forward a notion for a Members Marathon Cup, specifically
for those members who participate in the longer distance events and would
have little possibility of winning any of the other club awards. It was
proposed that the committee discuss this and inform members of any decision
regarding this in the future.
The meeting closed at 9pm.
